A worthy cause – be inspired

If you’ve been inspired by recent sporting events, but don’t know where to begin, take a leaf out of Sian Harries and Alex Hurcombe’s book! These amazing girls will be donning on their running shoes to run their first ever 10K race on Sunday, 16 September 2012 in and around Tunbridge Wells.

Motivating them in this mission is raising as much money as possible for the Hospice in the Weald – to read more about the Hospice and the good work it does to help those in need, click on the following link

The Super Girls are also hoping to help a little boy called George Weller. George has CHARGE syndrome. I have never heard of this syndrome before, but having read the information on The Charge Syndrome Foundation’s website I am utterly in awe of this little boy and his family who have been through so much. It is a complex syndrome which has left him in and out of hospital most of his life, and I am so proud of the girls for taking it upon themselves to raise as much as they can towards a walking frame for George. It is George’s bravery which spurs them on.

Sian and Alex have set up a Facebook group in which they quote George’s mummy. If this doesn’t tug at your heart-strings to give and support, I don’t know what will:

"George has a syndrome called charge. This is an acronym for the disabilities that he has. Although George has this syndrome it does not define him, he is a wonderful brave boy who has had a lot of medical set backs and spent most of his life in and out of hospital having numerous operations. George has the most amazing sense of humour and getting a smile and a chuckle from him lights up the day!"

If you would like to donate to these worthy causes, please don’t be shy, Sian and Alex would welcome any amount, and once these running angels have completed the race, they will let you know how to go about paying. They have a Facebook group that you can join and this is where you can state your donation amount in advance -

Alternatively, feel free to contact Daffodili via email [email protected], Facebook,  Twitter or simply comment on this blog post and we’ll pass on any messages / donations to Sian and Alex.

Message from Sian and Alex “ANY AMOUNT WELCOME! and can we just say a huge THANK YOU to you all in advance!!!”

Please share this blog so that we can reach as many people as possible to support.

Thank you - Catrin
