  1. Meet the Godparents!

On Sunday, Paul and I became Godparents to a beautiful little girl called Ellie Ffion. You do not need to be a Godparent to fall in love with this little cutie, she is a very loveable baby, always smiling with her gorgeous big eyes, but having Ellie as our very own Goddaughter makes her even more special to us. Ellie’s daddy is one of my best friends, he’s like a big brother to me, and he has married one of the loveliest people I have ever met, so we didn’t hesitate to accept their invitation to be Ellie’s Godparents.

The Christening was beautiful, short and sweet, with a great turn out, all there to support Ellie and her family. This Christening was completely different to the last time I became Godmother twenty years ago! I was only ten years old, but the eldest of four girls. The fourth, Rhianedd, was born just after we had moved to a new house, a new village, where we didn't know anyone. But having a Minister for a Grandfather (or Dad-cu as we called him in Welsh) was very handy, as we were able to hold the Christening in our new home, a cereal bowl held the water, and as it was just us immediate family, I was given the role of Godmother. Even now, Rhianedd pulls the Godmother trump card on me when she wants something, so the quick-fix ceremony was just as effective as if it had been in a Chapel!

Now, we are absolutely certain that Ellie will have a great up-bringing, she has the best parents, fantastic grandparents and a very loving family who love her to bits, so I doubt that there’ll be much Paul and I can teach her in life that she won’t have already picked up from the lovely people who surround her, but being a Godparent is a humbling experience, to know that people want you to be part of their child’s life is a great honour.

We believe in love, kindness and treating others as we would like to be treated, and just generally living as good people. With these qualities, we hope we have what it takes to be good role models for little Ellie.

We would love to hear your Christening and Godparent stories, and we are also intrigued to know what you think the role of a Godparent should be. Please comment below, or send us an email [email protected]  we can combine all stories and make a follow-up blog post :-)

    Thank you,

    Catrin xx

  2. Is your child a little star?

Being a baby and children clothes and gifts shop, it’s all about the kids here at Daffodili. That’s why we would love to build a page on Daffodili where they can be the stars they want to be! Whether it be pictures of the squidgers wearing their new clothing or playing with a new toy from Daffodili, please feel free to send them in to [email protected] they would make great building blocks to what we wish to create in our gallery of Daffodili Stars.

We would also like to showcase their talents, so if your children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews etc would like to draw or write about our mascots Daffo the Lion (a little boy) and /or Dili the Bunny (a little girl), please send in their artwork, poetry, stories - anything to do with our furry little friends, we would be honoured to share them on our Daffodili Stars page. If they want their name and picture next to their creation, that’s fine by us!

All you need to do is scan and send to [email protected] If you need any further information, please email us, we don’t bite, we are friendly, and we are always happy to help.

    Thank you
